4th Annual 30 in 30...Day Ten - HALLOWEEN III: SEASON OF THE WITCH (1982)...

I have learned to love this film over the years. It was hated when it was released in 1982, simply because there was no Michael Myers, no Dr. Loomis and it tried to break away from the established norm of the Halloween "franchise" at the time. There was a plan in place to produce a new Halloween film every year that tied in more to the theme of Halloween rather than the ongoing story of Michael Myers, who was BURNED TO DEATH at the end of Halloween II. Oh well.

This movie features the outstanding Tom Atkins and he helps a lady searching for her father's killer in a town seemingly run by a toy factory mogul and his henchmen. What they discover is a plot to "kill us all" with Halloween masks and a catchy commercial that triggers the carnage.

Dan O'Herlihy, yeah the old guy from RoboCop, is the evil villain. He is superbly cast and very creepy. There are some great effects, light on the gore but used as opportune times. Despite it breaking away from the Myers storyline, this film has a great atmosphere and soundtrack. It is perfect for this time of year.

I loved staring at this VHS cover back in the day, I could never figure out what was going on! Awesome.

Happy Halloween.
