4th Annual 30 in 30...Day Nine - PHANTASM III - LORD OF THE DEAD (1994)...

Technically I watched this some time ago, but I felt it deserved a mention here and it fits the theme perfectly. Plus, it's my blog and I DO WHAT I WANT!!!

Released straight to VIDEO back in '94...this brought back the original actor for Mike from the original 70s movie, who had been replaced in part 2 in 1988. Confused yet? Only this time, almost as soon as he introduced he is relegated to the background and almost forgotten until the very end. This is very much Reg's movie - the balding, pony-tailed hero and friend to Mike. He gets a lot of time and action with his famous FOUR-BARRELED shotgun.

Angus Scrimm of course returns as the creepy Tall Man, taking out terrible actors left and right with his sterling silver needles and killer Spheres. Towards the end of the film, you discover this was obviously planned as a cliffhanger and an inevitable part IV was soon to follow. I need to check that one out. For what it was, there is a good bit of style and continuity here - helped by the returning actors in fan favorite parts and Don Coscarelli's directing. The first two are definitely the best, but part III isn't a total waste of time for sure.

That HAD to hurt...
