31 in 31 - A New Dimension in Terror...

"Dammit, Shelly, why do you always have to be such an asshole?

- "Sorry. And I'm not an asshole, I'm an actor."

"Same thing."

Day 13 - Friday the 13th Part 3 - in 3D! - 1982

1982 has to be one of the best years ever right? The first Friday film I saw on late night TV. It's not the best, but I will always love it since it was my first. Jason gets his mask, and then gets an axe:

31 in 31 - "You're all doomed."

"I don't wanna scare anyone, but I'm gonna give it to you straight about Jason. His body was never recovered from the lake after he drowned. And if you listen to the old-timers in town, they'll tell you he's still out there, some sort of demented creature, surviving in the wilderness, full grown by now... stalking... stealing what he needs, living off wild animals and vegetation. Some folks claim they've even seen him, right in this area. The girl that survived that night at Camp Blood, that... Friday The 13th? She claimed she saw him. She disappeared two months later... vanished. Blood was everywhere. No one knows what happened to her. Legend has it that Jason saw his mother beheaded that night. Then, he took his revenge, a revenge he continued to seek if anyone ever enters his wilderness again. And, by now, I guess you all know we're the first to return here. Five years... five long years he's been dorment. And he's hungry. Jason's out there... watching... always on the prowl for intruders... ready to kill... ready to devour... thirsty for young blood."

Day 12 - Friday the 13th Part 2 - (1981)

Ol' Sackhead Jason attacks! Gruesome sequel - Amy Steel is a badass final girl. Great 80s horror!

31 in 31 - "Silver Shamrock!"

"I do love a good joke and this is the best ever: a joke on the children."

Day 11 - Halloween III: Season of the Witch (1982)

Poorly received back in the day, but I love its weird nature. Tom Atkins and Dan O'Herlihy (yes the old man from RoboCop) chew up the scenery in this.

Tun it OFF! STOP IT!!! TURN IT OFF!

31 in 31 - "Listen to them. Children of the night. What music they make."

"The spider spinning his web for the unwary fly... The blood is the life, Mr. Renfield."

Day 10 - Dracula (1931)

A classic. Every horror fan needs to see it once. Not very long but has immense atmosphere and photography. Bela Lugosi is simply fantastic in this. He helped to create an icon - and is never shown with fangs.

31 in 31 - "They're not Swedish, Mac. They're Norwegian."

"I know you gentlemen have been through a lot, but when you find the time, I'd rather not spend the rest of this winter TIED TO THIS FUCKING COUCH!"

Day 9 - The Thing (1982)

John Carpenter's 1982 masterwork. Kurt Russell kicks ass. Special Effects still hold up today. An October favorite. Pour a cold one and enjoy:

31 in 31 - "Welcome to Prime Time, Bitch!"

"His name is Freddy Krueger. He was a child murderer before he died, and after he died... well, he became something worse."

Day 8 - A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors (1987)

Freddy's back, Nancy's back, John Saxon is back. One of my favorite horror sequels EVER. And also the scariest puppet on film:

31 in 31 - "Get a job in a sideshow."

"I was busy pushing bodies around as you well know and what would a note say, Dan? "Cat dead, details later"? "

Day 7 - Re-Animator (1985)

One of my favorite horror movies ever. Jeffrey Combs is a master. So funny and dark. I'll never forget the first time I saw it on late night TV.

Wake up, Dr. Hill...
