Nightfighter on final approach...

Well, here it is.

Overall, I am pleased with the finished model. I still suck at canopies but I aim to keep at it. The alternate camo scheme came out well I thought. I know it wasn't realistic in relation to the specific plane, but I had fun with it. In the end that's all that matters.

Here are some pics:

A closeup view of the otherwise hidden cannons:

Here is a closeup of the bottom of the aircraft. Hopefully you can see the subtle weathering. I used a silver/grey lead pencil for all of it. Pretty simple and easy! Enjoy!

Don't prick me!

I'll post more later. I've got some more detailed shots and other angles. Enjoy these for now.

Coming together...

Things are really starting to come together now...the main body is fully assembled. All that's left are some smaller parts and the cockpit canopy and decals. More soon...Enjoy!!!! (Remember always click on the individual pictures for larger versions.)

More construction updates...

Almost there...some more closeups of the completed wings, landing gear, and tail fin. Enjoy!

The painted bird

Got a lot of painting done on the main fuselage and wings this weekend. Here is a photo of the unassembled parts and painted camo:

And here are some random shots of the "workbench" - thought these would be fun. Pay special attention to the giant tape ball mass...that was used to tape off various sections of the wings and body for painting. Enjoy!

Real Life

While you wait for additional updates to the build, here are two real life camos that I think are awesome. The first is a surviving remnant of ww2, the fuselage and tail section of the same plane I am currently building, very nice paint job here:

And the second is a modern day Mig-29 with a new kind of digital camo pattern...this would be a bitch to simulate on a plastic model for sure. Enjoy:

Some prelim painting

A few shots here of the finished cockpit piece and the assembled fuselage. Some different angles show the sideview of the pilots, some pilot detail and a closeup of the front instrument panel. As always, you can click on any of the these for a larger view. Enjoy:

Camo Ideas for UHU

Here are two. The first is Plain Jane with Black belly:

And another with jagged camo and black belly: Which do you prefer?

Hello again

Whew! Well almost a year ago, I started this blog. Back again finally. Gonna be posting some in progress pics of a new Luftwaffe night fighter that I picked up last weekend. Here is the box art:
