The Brood / 1979
Art Hindle (Black Christmas) stars as a father struggling with saving his little girl during a custody battle with his emotionally unbalanced wife. She is being treated at a clinic run by Oliver Reed (Gladiator) as emotions breach the surface and weird killer freaks run amok. You can always count on David Cronenberg to go "out there" with the family themes and body horror. A lot of nice background and textured buildup to the crazy finale. It's pretty tame when considering Cronenberg's 80s output, but there are some truly shocking moments. Been hearing about this one for ages, glad I finally watched it.
