Fifth Annual 31 in 31...Day 14 ... "We don't stop here."

(Love this original artwork style poster! Not mine of couse...)

Tombs of the Blind Dead / (Spain) 1971

The first international offering of the month...all the way from Spain. Basically, it was their answer/version of Night of the Living Dead and began a big horror boom in the early to mid 70s. The storyline is very simple with some atmospheric slow-mo scenes of reanimated Knights Templar mummies chasing hapless victims. Somehow they also have horses! It mixes a lot of monster conventions together - they rise like zombies, appear mummy-like and feed on the living like vampires! It isn't the absolute best as far as classic horror goes, but given the time period it was released, and the iconic imagery it possesses, it's certainly worth a watch. Try to get the original Spanish edition as it is nearly 20 minutes longer than the trimmed English dubbed version.

Creepy!
