From Beyond / 1986
Hot on the heels of Re-Animator, this crazy mad scientist splatter movie is a true cult classic. Jeffrey Combs is certifiably unhinged as Crawford Tillinghast, assistant to Dr. Pretorius. They build a machine called The Resonator that opens the doors between dimensions and of course, it allows all sorts of creatures into our world. Barbara Crampton and Ken Foree round out the main cast - tons of slime, tearing flesh, and sleazy situations. And I think it has some of the best looking practical effects since John Carpenter's The Thing. It's a fun romp from right smack in the middle of the glorious 80s.
