30 in 30...DAY 16...NEVER SLEEP AGAIN - The Elm Street Legacy (Part Two)...

The celebration of all things Elm Street continues...

Part 5: The Dream Child...unfortunately this is where the series started to get stale, even though it seems most of the cast and crew had fun with this movie. I guess it was hard to top the mainstream and creative success of Dream Warriors and The Dream Master.

I have to give a lot of credit to Bob Shaye throughout this entire documentary, New Line was his baby at the very, very beginning and he gives pretty open and candid interviews on every installment and mostly everyone involved. He seems genuinely thankful to both the people he worked with and the fans.

Faster than a bastard maniac, more powerful than a local madman..its SUPER FREDDY!

Freddy's Dead...the decision was made to end it all rather than keep on churning out crap (too bad Hollywood doesn't do that these days!) So we get a new crop of soon to be dead teens, Freddy has a daughter. Alice Cooper plays his dad and 3D makes a return.

Now I'm playing with Power - great graphics!

New Nightmare...

This is one of the most interesting (and well made) installments of the series and also a fascinating set of interviews on the doc. Everyone from the first returns and Craven makes his movie within a movie as Freddy is now an ancient evil and very nasty again. Englund calls this his favorite of the series - lots of fun had on the set!

Freddy Vs Jason...

The ultimate fan service film. The two 80s titans together, beating the everyloving sh** out of one another. When it came out, it became the highest grossing movie of either franchise. Hell yeah.

He might have lost his head, but Freddy gets the final wink in the end....

Many great interviews about all of the writers and scripts that floated around for years...one particular image that has stuck with me was the idea that at the end as F and J are in hell during their final battle, Pinhead shows up to ask them "what the problem is?" Wow, would have loved to see that!

Overall you just can't go wrong with this one. If you are a nightmare fan, then you will love this documentary. It literally has everything. A win for Elm Street fans!
