"Beware Romulans bearing gifts"...Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan Director's Cut bluray review...

So this was released this week...

First off, the Mondo poster art is one of my favorite pieces of Star Trek art in recent years, so that's pretty neat they used it for the 50th Anniversary release of the best (Trek) film of all time. I won't bore you with details on all of the extras, audio, etc. There are tons of reviews online that cover this well enough. I will say that, in my opinion, this is the BEST that 'Khan' has ever looked and most likely the closest to its original picture quality from 1982.

Greatest character intro in (Trek) movie history?

There is one minor issue near the beginning where a scene is re-used and replaces a couple of seconds in the opening. Not sure if its an editing error or a Director's tweak. Apparently Paramount is aware of it so some fixes may be coming soon - for those of us who know the film front to back, sideways, etc...it is very apparent but it doesn't ruin the film, IMO. It literally is only a few seconds of run time...

Shown below is the full package with a nice 50th Anniversary card strip and the whole thing together. Perfection.

Overall, an extremely nice package and treatment of the Greatest Film of All Time. Have to knock off a half Khan for the minor edit issue but other than that - a near perfect and beautiful transfer of this movie. FIRE!!!!

4.5/5 KHANSSSS!!!!!!!!
