The Dark Side of the Moon (1990)...

Ah, the 80s....oops I meant 1990. Another forgotten gem that I found on Netflix Instant View this past weekend. This movie is so rare that when doing a google search almost every picture is of the Pink Floyd album cover or something from the new Transformers movie. Ha! That's good stuff. Check out the awesome poster cover art...

Ah, those glowing eyes...and that ominous tagline "Something is waiting" - which oddly, takes more precedence than the actual movie title shoved all the way to the tip top of the poster. Once you get past the obvious cheese acting and makeup effects straight outta 1983, there is a pretty decent film to be found here all things considered. the filmmakers were obvious ALIEN fans as there are several scenes derived straight out of the 1979 original. There's even a female robotic voice serving as the mothership's central brain center, but they take it one step further and give her a physical form in a skintight black leather outfit. No, I'm not making this up! Also, here's a scene of the top notch ship model work...

Ohhhh incredible lighting. No CGI here! Basically the plot involves a large ship adrift in the future running out of time before it crashes, lots of dark corridors, the Bermuda Triangle, Shuttle disasters, futuristic machine guns that look strangely like modern day weapons, and several pairs of snake eye contacts...

Yep, even Satan himself shows up in this one. Like I said, its on Netflix Instant, so give it a shot, its about the only way you'll see it and it not a total waste of time.
