AQUA ZOMBIE...and some other stuff...

Really fond of this one. The colors jump off the page and it took me a while to get it "just right" where I was pleased with it. AQUA ZOMBIE! Some good WIP shots along the way...

A few sketchies...some skulls and a quickie acrylic sunset...

Sharpie Quickies

Not much to speak of other than some marker/sharpie studies last night.

A quickie laughing Eric Draven...

And one Evil Dead inspired piece. But of course, my wife informs me that it looks like a zombified Gary Busey to her, so from now on, that's all I'll see. Haha.

Soldier in a Forsaken Land

On a little military painting kick here lately...acrylic from reference photo. Putting up a few WIP shots as I like how this one progressed. One of my faves so far...

Final workbench shot.

Movie Review - SABOTAGE (2014) - Arnold Schwarzenegger

Um, Holy Crap.

How did I miss this one? Arnold is back in his BEST movie since his Governator days. I'm serious. This movie is gritty, bloody and doesn't shy away from much at all. Ahnuld is the leader of a ragtag group of seasoned DEA agents that go after high end targets no one else wants to mess around with. During one of these operations, the team decides to "skim a little off the top" from a large money heist and somehow their money gets gone and soon after, everyone - including the cartel - is after them. Arnold's team become the hunted as he races to find out who and why they're being chased.

There is a great cast of foul-mouthed characters that make up the team - they all play off of one another extremely well - Sam Worthington, Josh Holloway (Lost's Sawyer), and Terrence Howard are a few of the notables here. There's also a ton of large machine gun action, gore, and ass-kicking. Arnold hasn't talked this much shit in a LONG time and I loved every minute of it. He's an "old dog" who has plenty of motivation for what he does. The story was a pleasant surprise - in fact, there is almost TOO MUCH story all things considered. I did not have high expectations going in, but I was pleasantly surprised.

This is the Arnold that I've so desperately wanted to see in action again. For that alone, I have to give this at least 4 out of 5 Khans!

A Weekend of Random Sketching...

A pretty random weekend with nothing major to show for it other than a handful of sketches and marker works. I'm pretty happy with the output - maybe I'll get something more finished looking done during the week.

First off, a Dr. Channard sketch that I quit on. It wasn't going the way I planned so moved along. Some nice things, and some not so nice things. Too rigid.

One of my faves so far, a quickie Eric Draven in ink and sharpie marker. He kind of looks like a fat old woman, but I can see The Crow in there too. HA!

Godzilla 1985. One of my childhood favorites.

Another quickie Godzilla sketch...Does he have a batman mouth?

Jason from Part VII with a weedwhacker!

Finally, a Batman sketch I came up with. Very symbolic and I threw a few words on there too. Comic-like.

Last, a WIP rough sketch of something I want to do eventually featuring the Dark Knight and the Man of Steel. It's very early and the composition could change, but I like the colors and placement of figures so far. We shall see - stay tuned.

Demon to Some, Angel to Others...

"Ah, Kirsty...we thought we'd lost you..."

A subject I've always wanted to tackle. This is the largest, finished painting in acrylic that I've done so far - 14 x 17 like the landscape study I did over the weekend. First, some work in progress shots because I wanted to see how this monster came to be...

And now, some finished pictures. I like just about everything about this one...every angle shows a different detail or look. I love it.

And the workbench...

"But trick us again, child...and your suffering will be legendary...even in HELL..."
