Lucky enough to catch the latest Japanese Godzilla film at the theater last night. I was blown away - a new take on the whole Gojira story - very Japanese and "of the times" with some amazing cinematography, music and a unique story. Political-centric approach to what it might be like if a giant beast were to rise up in the middle of modern day Japan - a la Fukushima. I need to see it again to fully compose my thoughts, but I was very, very pleased - it makes you think, and gives pause to many things going on in our social climate today, which is what the very first film did way back in the 1950s. A triumph.

Was there any doubt you wouldnt like? Where did you go see this?
Well I didn't like the American Godzilla from 2014. This one was marvelous. Saw it at the ol' Carmike Cinemas...they even have new garnet carpet in all the theaters now! Whoa...
