Drawlloween Weekend Roundup - the home stretch.

Day 28 - Ghosts-A-GO-GO!

Day 29 - Black Caturday

Day 30 - Skulls & Skeletons

An extra Freddy...

The 6th Annual 31 in 31...Day 29...They're like cock-a-roaches!

The Howling / 1981

Dee Wallace (E.T.'s mom) and Robert Picardo star in this awesome Werewolf flick. The wolf transformation rivals the one in American Werewolf in London. 1981 was a kick ass year for horror.

The 6th Annual 31 in 31...Day 28...Silver Shamrock!

HALLOWEEN III: Season of the Witch / 1982

Hated in 1982 because it didn't have Myers...loved now as a cult classic. Tom Atkins and OCP's boss chew up the scenery. Dick Warlock plays a mustard drooling robot. Oh yeah.

It's almost time, kids.

Drawlloween - Day 27 - Call of C'Thursday

More progress shots and final/contrast at the end. Fhtagn.

The 6th Annual 31 in 31...Day 27...It's time, Michael.

Halloween II / 1981

The first Halloween movie I ever saw on TV back in the 80s. If it would have ended here, it would have been perfect.

HMH - the most deserted hospital in movie history. HA!

Drawlloween - Day 26 - They Came From Outer Space!

I could have drawn 20 pictures for this one. But I settled on one.

"This thing doesn't want to show itself, it wants to hide inside an imitation. It'll fight if it has to, but it's vulnerable out in the open. If it takes us over, then it has no more enemies, nobody left to kill it. And then it's won."

In progress shots first...

Final and a contrast shot.

The 6th Annual 31 in 31...Day 26...Death has come to your little town, Sheriff...

Halloween / 1978

John Carpenter's masterpiece. The Shape. Jamie Lee Curtis. Sam Loomis.

"It was the boogeyman..."

--

"As a matter of fact...it was."

The perfect halloween movie. 10/10.

Drawlloween - Day 25 - Entombed Tuesday

Using a real life mummy photo as reference, this actually turned out well. You can hide a lot of mistakes with charcoal.

Some in progress shots...I like the angle shots.

Final and contrast shots. Urggh.

Also a quickie 'Hellraiser' inspired illustration. Locusts...

The 6th Annual 31 in 31...Day 25...You gotta be F'n Kidding Me...

The Thing / 1982

Easily one of my top 10 horror films ever. John Carpenter was simply at the zenith of his career at this point in time. Classic after classic after classic.

Perfect cast led by Kurt Russell, Keith David and Wilford Brimley. The practical special effects are still as badass as they were 34 years ago. F yeah.

Drawlloween - Day 24 - Mechanical Monstrosity

Wasn't feeling it at all last night...quickie sketch. I promise I'll be more excited as the week goes on.

The 6th Annual 31 in 31...Day 24...Like Father, Like Son...

The Fly II / 1989

One of those horror films where I remember being extremely excited to see it and then getting to experience it in the theater. Still love it today, even though it isn't as good as the first one. Eric Stoltz and Daphne Zuniga star.

Take a bow, Martin...

Drawlloween Weekend Roundup - 10.21-23/2016

Phantom Phriday...10.21

Bat-urday...10.22

Superstition Sunday...10.23

The 6th Annual 31 in 31...Day 23...We're just getting started...

The Walking Dead Season 7 begins. Negan is going to REALLLLLLY make us love to hate him. Jeffrey Dean Morgan is badass.

The 6th Annual 31 in 31...Day 22...Miss Me?

Wes Craven's New Nightmare / 1994

Craven's movie within a movie about the evil that is Freddy and how far it's willing to go to consume those who know it. Englund is very nasty in this one. Heather Langenkamp, John Saxon, and some other Elm Street vets all shine.

The 6th Annual 31 in 31...Day 21...WITCH!!!!!

Suspiria / 1977

Gonzo, atmospheric european horror by Dario Argento. Doesn't make a lot of sense but it's very pretty (horrific) to look at - concerns a coven of witches hiding in a ballet school overseas. Also a great score by Goblin of Dawn of the Dead fame...

The 6th Annual 31 in 31...Day 20...TV Frights!

Every year, I like to throw in some old TV scares on one day, mainly from Star Trek..but this year a few other shows crept in...

First off, the first time the Borg ever appeared..we had no idea what was coming...from TNG season 2 - 'Q Who?'

Next up - The Exorcist TV show on FOX. It is wayyyy better than it has a right to be, considering the source material. 5 episodes in and I'm hooked. Geena Davis and Alan Ruck co-star.

And finally...who can go through Halloween without watching "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown"? The snoopy red baron scenes always make me laugh.

Drawlloween - Day 20 - Horses and Headless Men

I guess we finally answered the question of what happened to poor Ichabod. ha!

The 6th Annual 31 in 31...Day 19...GOKE

Goke, Body Snatcher from Hell / 1968

Cold-war era Japanese scifi horror film that includes a crashed airplane, an assassin's plot, a bomb, UFOs, and vampire blobs. Ah, the Japanese and all of their terrible yet wonderful ideas.

Drawlloween - Day 19 - Witchcraft Wednesday

In honor of my favorite childhood witches...

Drawlloween - Day 18 - Nosfera-Tuesday

Should have had better, more developed output for this one honestly...but I ran out of time and couldn't decide which way to go. Posting both. Onward...

The 6th Annual 31 in 31...Day 18..."They are us."

George A. Romero's Day of the Dead / 1985

The final installment in the original living dead trilogy. Bit of dark comedy mixed with sadistic ultra-gore. The world has been overrun as a group of scientists and an army detachment eek out an existence in an old missile silo. Crazy, hilarious and even hopeful.

Hello, Bub!
