NEW PROJECT! Eduard BF110 G-2 in 1/72 scale...some camo thoughts...

So as I put the finishing touches on the Pak Fa refurb, this one has been staring at me for nearly two weeks! I have heard great things about Eduard 'Profipack' kits which include canopy masks and photo etch so I took the plunge with this 1/72 scale German fighter.



Included on the instructions are 3 main camo schemes that I like. I'm positive that I am making the version with the large cannon sticking out from under the nose shown here:



Only thing is I don't like the camo all that much. Sure it's authentic and geometric but I LOVE the scheme that mixes with the Bumblebee Nose Art here:



I love that but I want the side camo "blotches" to be a bit bigger, kind of like this one:



Perhaps I can simulate that with some homemade stencils and the airbrush?

Because I haven't put up a photo of The Shatner in a while. This is just too good to pass up.

Lone Survivor...a few words...

I'm going to keep this brief. This film made me mad. This film made me appreciate the Marines and Navy Seals even more (if that's possible.) I know there are liberties taken because it is a Hollywood product, but the underlying theme of brotherhood and sacrifice is never lost. It is gut-wrenching and enraging sometimes but it is completely worth it. God Bless the men and women of the United States Armed Forces. Thank you, Marcus Luttrell for bringing this story back to us.

New Comics...Digital First...and a Review...

Purchased my first digital comic ever over the weekend - a collection of a WW2 Eastern Front comic called The Grand Duke. Growing I loved comics like GI Combat and Fightin' Army, esp the issues that would deal with the air war. There aren't enough WW2 comics out these days and when I find one it's usually not very good or they feel the need to throw in aliens just to appeal to the ADD crowd. Well, that's not the case here...these guys are obviously WW2 German and Russian war machine fans. There are tons of glory shots of weapons, tanks, and those wonderful aircraft. And there are dogfights - LOTS of them.



The Story centers around a German officer named Wulf (who paints the tail of his fighter plane black in defiance of the Nazi party) who is stuck in combat on the Eastern Front against the Red Witches of Russia. He comes to know one of them personally and of course that turns into a romance of sorts. Normally that would spell doom for a story like this, but not here. The book is fast paced and full of action and interesting characters. We need more comics like this in the world today. World War II history is FULL of rich possibilities.

1/72 Sukhoi T50 Pak Fa...a side of wings please...

A bit of progress on the decals last night, even though I'm STILL not done. In just under an hour, all I finished up was the left side wing, fuselage, engines and the left tail fin. Now the other side looms...ah, the joys of decaling prototype aircraft!

1/72 Sukhoi T50 Pak Fa...ready for the stickers!

Did not get near as much work in on the Pak Fa as I had planned this weekend BUT I am almost done with the decal work. Decided to make it a "what if" Czech aircraft - basically used the kit decals and substituted the Czech circles for the Russian stars. There are a LOT of tiny tiny markings for this plane! So far so good...let 'em dry, Micro Sol to help them set.
