Not to be outdone by the overspray, I retaped the engines and decided to go back in with some darker "Dark Blue Grey" with a touch of black and green mixed in.
Success my lord! The lines and color breaks are much cleaner now!
New shot with engines and darker, deeper blue. Nice.
The workbench. Oh, is that a 1/32 Me109 hiding in there? I think it is...
I spent the weekend trying to advance the Pak Fa into a more finished state. I'm still 50/50 but I think it's getting there. Repainted the whole thing a lighter blue and I aimed to imitate the new "Shark" camo that is seen on some of the newer prototypes - borrowing this art from Deviantart.com:
Here are the prelim first and second coats. Not too bad.
Taped underneath to paint the engines, etc.
Had to cover every other part of the plane with large sheets of paper...you would think this would stop any overspray...but you would be WRONG...
I hate taping/masking...
German Grey painted on the engines.
Upon removal of masking tape...arggh!!!
OVERSPRAY!!! WTF???!!!
Dabbed some Dark Sea BLue on the overspray areas to "hide" them...not sure what to do from here...considering taping off the engines...and going in with a darker blue on top to cover the overspray and out of margin crap. I will not be defeated.
Two of the newest Series 11 figures...honestly these are two of the best Predators put out. I love the original paint schemes and the new weapons.
The Wasp...
I LOVE the xenomorph head impaled on the staff. Awesome detail.
Now on to my new favorite Predator toy. They took a previous figure from a year or two ago and created a new/original bio helmet for it plus new weapons pack and a frikkin SWORD. Oh yeah.
The Borg aka Lost Predator in Full Battle Armor...
One of the best Pred toy pictures I've ever taken. Awesome.
The tubes and wires almsot make it look aquatic from a certain point of view. Incredible figure.
Ugh. Thinking about attempting a rescue from the modeling "Shelf of Doom" - the Sukhoi T-50 Pak Fa in 1/72. Below are the shots from my last painting attempt. I had a lot of overpaint - mainly my own fault. Frankly, I'm leaning towards doing an entirely different camo or a what if scheme - perhaps an all black "Stealth" type look or a more modern two tone look like some of the modern Flankers. We shall see. Thoughts? Should I even attempt this?
