Sketch, sketch, sketch....paint, paint, paint....

Started the weekend off with some black and white ink/marker sketches...

The Great Owl from the Secret of Nimh...

A very different Batman...came out a bit more "feral" but I like it. May develop this one more down the road...







Got some new COPIC markers this weekend, high end versions of regular painting/colored markers. Tried out a Swamp Thing...







Then another experiment in colored BIC pens...yes regular old BIC ink pens! Drawing on the cheap! The gal from Blade Runner...









Lastly, five hours of painting on a Sunday. This is the largest canvas I've ever painted. 18 x 24 and it was BLACK! No pressure. An early anniversary gift for the wife. Hardest part was getting enough white as a base coat for the giraffe heads...then just built in from there. Not bad I guess for my first ever big nature piece!

Even more...this time with birds...

Getting a lot down last night....colored pen on 9 x 6 sketch book sheet. Owls...not sure why most of these are hard on the yellow...must be my camera setting mixed with new paper...oh well...











Then I sketched out an idea I had in marker on the 9 x 6...











Then I had to paint it. This MIGHT BE IT!!!
