Eduard 1/72 BF110 G-2...waiting on the glue to dry...

Waiting on some glue to dry on other pieces so I got a bit more detail done on the cockpit and side walls.

Nose Cone...guns...lots of guns...

Eduard 1/72 Bf110 G-2...paint...

In prep for the Winter Storm of 2014, I got some paint and body work done on the 110. Cockpit painted minus some detail and weathering to come...

Flaps down on the wings...

Inside cockpit walls on the fuselage, also minus detail...

Close up shot of the ridiculous photo etch..these "colored knobs" were actually bent pieces of thin, teeny metal.

Eduard...1/72 BF110 G-2...cockpit progress...

It doesn't look like it, but I worked all weekend on the Bf110. I literally think half of the parts of the model are for the cockpit ONLY. And almost 3/4 of those are teeny tiny photo etch parts! HA! Crazy...a few random shots from the weekend.

Photoetch Pilot front panel...

Full length cockpit shot...

Footpedals...now with foot straps...those might have been the thickness of human hair...

The next two shots are TURRIBLE and shaky but give you a decent idea of where everything is going - starting to come together.

The workbench as of last night. Wings! Engines! Oh my!

Movie Review - REWIND THIS!

I found this documentary on Hulu Plus over the weekend. Great little film devoted to modern day collectors of the bygone era of VHS. There really was nothing like it before and nothing like it since. This has some nice interviews with cult directors Charles Band and Frank Henenlotter as they talk about the exposure and freedom their films gained through the medium. There is a huge niche market today (esp with the closing of Blockbuster) of Mom and Pop video stores that still carry VHS tapes, run by the collectors themselves. Watching this brought back a LOT of memories and good times. Literally thousands of movies that were released via VHS have never or will never be released in any other medium so there is some merit to the nostalgia. Whether you lived through this great era or you want to get an idea of what it was like, check this one out!

4 out of 5 Khans.

Additional points for one of the stars of this doc - David "The Rock" Nelson. He reminds me of a cross between your drunk uncle and Bruce Campbell. Crazy dude who still makes crappy monster movies with old props and VHS media. Crazy.

Sir, our Shields are Dropping...plus some Photo Etch progress...

For better or for worse, I finished the Joachim figure. I'm sure there are better minis out today, in fact I KNOW there are - I painted his headband and it seemed to bleed down on his face some. So I left it. He can be post Mutara Nebula Joachim after the Enterprise pounded the Reliant with Torpedoes. ha!

Always wanted to take a photo like this one - Through the Looking Glass...

Also some work on the BF110 - photo etch pilot panels and freaking 1/16-1/8 size foot pedals! Yikes! The foot pedals even have straps on them...wow.

Teeny seat belts.

This is one of my favorite pieces so far...co-pilot seat with photo etch seat cushion padding. That's badass.

FINISHED! Sukhoi T-50 Pak Fa...plus a bonus...

I did it.

Finally finished this monstrosity - it sat under a bed for almost a year but I swore it would not defeat me. I finished it off in What-If Czech markings and I like the final results. After attempting to bring out the panel lines using the Dark Dirt wash I had, hardly anything showed up. I went in with 0.7 and 0.5mm lead pencil and drew them in. Overall, I'm not totally disappointed in the look the pencil gives. Two backgrounds - grey and blue. Both have their merits and bring out different aspects of the camo. Enjoy.

Back dat ass up.

Co-pilot and the included ladder. Not bad for a Revell kit.

Some additional detail shots of the pencil work.

And...I rescued Joachim from his 31 year old packaging this weekend. Honestly, this isn't the best figure as far as detail goes. I tried my best - after three-four painting sessions, this is where I am so far. Some minor detail will follow in the face, headband, and belt...but for now...
