30 in 30...DAY 26...HELLBOUND: HELLRAISER II (1988)

One of the best horror sequels of all time. Clive Barker takes us on a descent into hell...I love this movie...it holds up incredibly well over time. The first Hellraiser was original for its time and the sequel stands up to it in every way. A lot was accomplished in these first two films with storytelling, special effects, and overall tone. A wonderful brooding soundtrack by Christopher Young expands on the whole world that we are shown. Pinhead and his minions don't even show up until almost an hour into the film and the film doesn't suffer one bit because of that. Perfect pacing can go a long way. This was the first movie I ever snuck into...with my Dad! Even though we didn't stay for the whole thing, I'll never forget that memory.

The film opens with a lone soldier of some war toying with the Lament Configuration...we come to find out this is the fellow who will become the Prince of Pain...Pinhead!

Julia is back as the new Queen of Hell...here she is with that guy from ALIENS...and a friend...

The cenobites return...the gang's all here.

Dr. Channard becomes a central protagonist for not only Kirsty and her new friend Tiffany, but for the Cenobites as well. "And to think, I hesitated..."

A wonderful Japanese version movie poster...

30 in 30...DAY 25...FRIDAY THE 13TH - Part V - A NEW BEGINNING (1985)

A lot of Friday fans either really hate or really like this one. Jason isn't even in it, other than in spirit. If for no other reason, watch for the outstanding robot dance...GIRL GETTIN' DOWN!!!

30 in 30...DAY 24...A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET (1984)

The one and only...the one that redefined everything and started it all. Nothing really like this, especially in 1984. The red and green sweater...the burned face...and the GLOVE. It all became a universal icon - right up there with the classics - Frankenstein, Dracula, Wolf Man...Robert Englund will never be forgotten. A great cast, including Johnny Depp - yes, he has this little movie to thank for his mega career. It's scary, it's bloody, and its still one of the all time best.

Well hello there...

Glen shouldn't have fallen asleep...still one of the best (and nastiest) scenes in any horror movie.

All the gang...

30 in 30...DAY 23...GENOCIDE (aka War of the Insects) [1968]

A 1968 Japanese film about the horrors of war and nuclear holocaust. The premise is quite simple and little ridiculous. The insects of the world are tired of humans standing on the edge of annihilation so they begin their offensive to rid the world of its most dangerous plague - US. Insect bites makes people go crazy and attack one another, chaos ensues, while the inhabitants of a small island race a group of nasty American Air Force personnel to recover a lost H-Bomb. Lots of psychedelic imagery and anti-war sentiment. A unique film unlike a lot that's out there - available through HULU plus!

That is one serious can of RAID...

Transformers / G.I. Joe #1-4. Transformers, GI JOE, World War II and Jae Lee. These are a few of my favorite things.

The Programme - Volumes 1 and 2. This was a series that came out in the early to mid 2000s that I've always wanted to read. I missed it the first time, so now is the time.

Also got my hands on some 50 cents issues of Starlog, Fangoria and The 'Nam for my brother.

And a great Freddy Krueger issue of Cinefantastique...

Now we're getting serious...

Star Trek The Roleplaying game - Joachim pewter miniature. From the same series that my Khan came from. Couldn't pass this up for $1.50!
