It's Still here.

Some (almost) finished banners. Top left is my favorite at this point, but I like them all overall. More to come!

Additional treatment to the square (sticker) graphics - moving Mike's face to the right per a suggestion. Liking them!

New Comics...9.28.11...

Slim pickins today...a new issue and a Retro Find!

COTW by default but that's a pretty sweet looking image - American Vampire 19...

BLAST FROM THE PAST! Marvel Comics presents Freddy Krueger's Nightmare of Elm Street!

It's here...and then some...

Another treatment of the first two graphics. I like the font and its placement much better here...plus...die cut bookmarks on the right? Hmmm...

It's coming.

Ok, so this is something I've always wanted to do. Since October is my favorite movie month of the entire year, I figured why not have a celebration - 30 Horror Films in 30 days! I may or may not get 30 actual movies in, but I will give it my best shot...to start things off, what celebration would be complete without a graphic to announce the coolness? More will be on the way, but for now, here are the first two.

Salem's Lot Part 2 (1979)...and some werewolves...

Well I finished part II of the mini series last night...great, great stuff. Apparently this was a big deal back in the day, especially for television. Let's get a look at Mr. Barlow himself...that's some straight up nightmarish stuff right there:

Also, a nice little newspaper clipping advertising the TV broadcast...

Now while we are on the horror note, below are two recently created art posters for a showing of An American Werewolf in London. Wow. Awesome. I love October!!!

Weekend of Horror...things seen, etc.

Ok, so I had some time on my hands this weekend (and one day last week.) Took in a few films...3 I had not yet seen and revisited a fourth. Below are some quick thoughts...

George A. Romero's Land of the Dead (2005)...

The last Romero zombie film to get a wide release before his recent woeful attempts are recapturing the magic. I liked this movie...its the weakest of the first four, but still some good effects and acting. Too bad the climax wasn't as satisfying as it could have been and what's with all the CGI headshots? 3 out of 5.

The zombies rise...

Next up is Kevin Smith's latest Red State (2011)...

An interesting look on how far some people can take their obsessions, this time in the form of a crazy preacher and his congregation of followers. I'm not a Kevin Smith lover or hater, but its different and rougher than his previous work. Worth a look, despite a golden missed opportunity in the latter half of the film...3 out of 5.

Hatchet 2 (2010)...

The first was a nice homage back to 80s horror with all its ridiculous blood and gore. This one, not so much, it was all there but it loses itself somewhere. Too bad. 1 out of 5.

Yes, that is a chainsaw...

Salem's Lot part One (1979)...

A network TV adaption (!) of Stephen King's novel of the same name. Wow, didn't know TV could be so good - I was only 3 when this came and have never sat down to watch it until last night. Wow. Part One was a movie unto itself but sets everything up nicely to be completed with a slamming Part Two. Great characters and spooky imagery (that kid in the window!!! ACK!) Can't wait to see the end! 5 out of 5.

*Scratch scratch*

The Thing (1982)...

No need to discuss this one. You know its good. Modern Classic. Rather than post all the posters from 1982, I thought I'd post my own quick ones.

Dead Ringers (1988)...

Jeremy Irons is one creepy arse dude. David Cronenberg's first movie after the The Fly remake. Irons plays twin brothers who share everything and have a medical practice. Things get a little nuts when one of the brothers meets and falls in love with a woman who visits their clinic. Sheesh. Great performance by Irons. Creepy movie...perfect Cronenberg.

New Comics...9.14.11...

Keeping the stacks small, but the quality up...

Cover of the Week - Hellraiser 5 - Nailing it!

American Vampire Survival of the Fittest 4...

Uncanny X-Force 15...

A Bittersweet Life (2005)...(South Korea Killin' it!)

Well by now you know of my love for the recent run of Korean action/revenge flicks...this is an earlier title featuring Byung-hun Lee, recently featured in I Saw the Devil and the GI JOE live action movie here in the states. A pretty simple storyline with some spectacular gunplay, martial arts, acting and musical score. A good look at an enforcer's role in a korean mob family and how fate and heartbreak play a role in his life. A few character posters and a scene below.
